Velocity A23 Road Build Package

from 631.48

The Velocity A23 is a favorite of both riders and wheel builders alike. A wider footprint allows for a more aerodynamic rim/tire combination when paired with a 23c tire while still providing optimal use for a tire up to 35c. A profile that mimics the characteristics of a tubular, gaining increased control and lower resistance without the inconvenience of tubular glue or the risk of irreparable roadside mechanical failure. A tubeless ready design makes this rim ideal for road and cyclocross applications

There’s a lot we can say about the hubsets we picked for this package. However, we think the manufacturers say it best.

SPOKE PROFILE FOR ALL HUBS IS J-BEND

Chris King R45:

“When we set out to design our R45 hub we had over 30 years of bearing experience and 20 years of building hubs under our belts. The R45 is the culmination of that experience; we focused on creating a lightweight road racing hub that utilized hallmarks of Chris King components: precision, performance, and quality. Our R45 rear hub combines a redesigned RingDrive™ system with 45 teeth for lower drag and near instant engagement with a lightweight hub body and our legendary made-in-house bearings.”

Default color on these hubs is black. Chris King offers a large variety of colors that we can special order. Just message us before we build!

DT Swiss 240s:

“Swiss precision engineering, machining and assembly together with clever detail solutions have made of the 240 what it is today: A legend. Featuring the latest refinements the 240 hubs are extremely lightweight and extremely durable. The Ratchet System is the best solution for a freewheel system, since it can transfer high loads while being super light. Just what athletes want: Perfect transmission of their power and the reliability allowing them to focus on the ride”.

White Industries T11:

“Our lightest weight hubset designed specifically for road bikes.  We engineered the T11 hubset to be light without sacrificing durability.  In today's market there is a demand for light weight components.  We understand the market, and, yet, we also understand that quality of craftsmanship, design, and engineering are also vital in producing a product that will stand the test of time.  When designing the rear hub shell we decided upon a high/low flange which allows for better spoke tension when dishing a wheel that is spaced to 130mm.  The hub design maximizes aerodynamic efficiency - always a goal for road riders.  Unique to the T11 is our titanium freehub body in a choice of Shimano or Campy configurations.  Titanium, we feel, is the best choice for the freewheel application since it is nearly as light as aluminum and has the equivalent strength to many forms of steel.  The rear hub is 11 speed compatible and, with provided spacer, can be run with 9 and10 speed systems.”

Default Color: Black. Also available in polished silver, red, blue, gold, pink, or purple anodized upon request.

Bitex Road:

We like these hubs so much that we now engrave our logo on them, Bitex provides a lightweight yet durable road solution that is easy to service featuring sealed enduro bearings and interchangeable, 6 pawl, anti bite freehubs. All this comes at a price that much of the industry fails to beat.

Default Color: Black. Other colors vary depending on availability but include blue, gold, lime, pink, red, silver, and white.

For spokes and nipples, we have calculated what we believe are the best combinations for this build.

Our 24/20 spoke count option gives lightweight riders from 100-160lbs the option to gain peak performance from their wheels without being loaded down with excess spokes. Laced 2x rear and 1x front.

Our 28/24 spoke count option gives riders ranging from 140-190lbs a classic feel, free from worry of overstraining components. Laced 2x rear and front.

Our 32/28 spoke count option provides a strong build for riders weighing up to 235lbs.

Apart from spoke count, other factors apply. We have selected the spoke and nipple types that we feel best match the performance of these components.

DT Competition:

A classic and affordable stainless steel spoke option. It’s double butted, 2.0/1.8/2.0 profile creates a stonger yet lighter advantage over it’s straight guage counterpart, the DT Champion. Available in Silver or Black

Sapim C-Xray:

One of the best bladed spokes on the market the stainless steel C-Xray’s 2.0-.09x2.2-2.0 profile guarantees fit in all standard spoke holes without risky hub modifications. The middle section creates an incredibly high strength aerodynamic blade at a weight comparable to titanium spokes. Available in Silver or Black.

Brass Nipples:

These are the all around workhorse of the wheel world. A durable nipple capable of supporting high tension and resisting corrosion due to the elements. Available in black and silver.

Alloy Nipples

These are a pro riders dream come true. Being significantly lighter than their brass counterparts, they help to reduce rotating weight, producing a faster ride. The wide range of anodized colors is not only an aesthetic benefit. It also provides a weatherproof coating that when cared for properly can last the duration of your wheels. That being said, we don’t recommend alloy nipples for salty/snowy applications. Available in black, blue, gold, lime, pink, purple, silver, orange, and red.
